AWANA is a non-denominational ministry that exists to reach children and teenagers with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and train them to serve Him. Capital Baptist AWANA meets on Sunday evenings beginning at 6 pm during the school year at Capital Baptist Church (3504 Gallows Road in Annandale, VA).
Although Capital Baptist Church sponsors this chapter of AWANA, we welcome children from other churches to attend. If you do not have a church home, we invite your family to consider Capital Baptist Church. Our program is conducted predominantly in English, but we have leaders who are fluent in Spanish to translate for children or parents when needed.
What is AWANA?
The name AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed”, referring to 2 Timothy 2:15: “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth.” The programs offer a proven approach for evangelizing and discipling kids in the church and community because it helps churches and parents work together to develop spiritually strong children and youth who faithfully follow Jesus Christ.
